In April, Henry Winter leads the Greek study group to the edge of a ravine in the Vermont snow and they push Edmund 'Bunny' Corcoran in — Bunny's death the culmination of months of blackmail over an earlier killing the group participated in. Donna Tartt's novel begins after the murder and works backward: we know who did it from the first page; the suspense is entirely in understanding how they got there.
