On Halloween night in Haddonfield, Illinois, Michael Myers — institutionalized since he murdered his sister on this date fifteen years earlier — escapes from Smith's Grove Sanitarium and returns home. While his psychiatrist Dr. Sam Loomis races to warn the town, Michael silently stalks babysitter Laurie Strode through the neighborhood, killing her friends one by one as the jack-o'-lanterns glow.
